2019 San Fran... THE Complete Manual by Bobby Peters

Coach Peters continues his assault on offenses everywhere. He lights up Twitter with plays upon plays upon plays. I had to see what was going on... I secured a copy of The 2019 San Francisco 49ers Complete Offensive Manual. This thing is HUGE! More like the WAR and PEACE of manuals.

It most definitely passes the "flip test."

Well over 50 sections of plays. He details the plays and diagrams from Just Plays Sports. But wait that's not all! He tags all the plays and where to find them on NFL GAME PASS

First, find out what you want to study... my first choice was SLANTS.

Fifteen diagrams to study...then a Down and Distance breakdown.

And finally the hidden gem: film markings!
We love film.
This is how to find it!

WOW.WOW.WOW.

How about a little REVERSE!
Flip to page 141.
Find 6 diagrams.

It took me less then five minutes to find the plays!

Coach Peter's books can be found in Kindle Format too. After being impressed by the 2019 San Fran Manual. I went over to his Amazon Inventory. Ohh, a little "No Risk It. No Biscuit" Bruce Arian 2019 Tampa Bay Manual... Sign me up!

Also in the Coach Mo Library.

Practice in the Power Spread - Including No Sweat Wednesday

Probably the question I am asked the most and definitely have been over this break is how do we practice this offense. First let me say each year is a learning experience in itself. My practice schedule philosophy has been influenced by Josh Herring, Dub Maddox and John Konceki.  Men who have either won a state championship or played for it multiple times. Included is our No Sweat Wednesday practice that we started to use a few years ago. So, let’s start there, here is the practice script for Wednesday’s.

We go for about 75 minutes on Wednesday. We start off with Punt Team because to me Punt is the most important Special Team in the game followed by PAT. We do 5 minutes of best on best Red Zone 7 on 7 from the 13 in. We spend 25 minutes in individual thought we are 1.5 Platoon team we find a way to work it out if kids need reps on both sides, but on Wednesday they go mainly with there primary position group.

On offense we spend 5 minutes going over handoffs with RB’s. Those handoff’s include under center, jet sweep, etc. From there we do our screen drill, which you have heard me talk about and post the clip of before. You can watch it again HERE. We finish Indy with our Zone Read Drill with various Bubble Screens. You can also watch that video HERE

OL/DL walk through Inside Run Fits. While they are doing that, we are going Goal line 1 on 1’s. Outside WR’s focus on slants and fades. Inside WR’s focus on corner and fades. RB run outs and angle routes.

We finish with ten minutes of team, follow by the 2-minute drill.

Because we have a few players that go both ways we practice like a 2-platoon team.

Monday is an offensive focus so we get an hour (55 minutes) of practice and Tuesday is defensive so offense only gets 40 minutes.

We begin both days with best on best competition. We either do coming out of the end zone, ball starts on the 2 or Goal Line starting on the 5.

Monday

We spend 15 minutes doing Indy. The Quarterbacks and Running Backs get together.  We then do RPO Drill (10), where we work on mesh with the RB and throwing the post snap manipulation. Our offensive lineman takes this time to go through pods working on run game combos vs the defense. We do have Half-line pass concepts (15) working on PUP with half of the OL and DL as well to simulate rush and QB escape techniques followed by Team (15).

Tuesday

Skill players go through install/team take off (8), then we move to Pass Under Pressure (9) , followed by perimeter drill with WR and DBs working various bubble screens and lineman working 1 on 1’s (8). Then we follow with team with a focus on 3rd downs on Tuesday.

This is a question I have answered in my new CoachTube class, named Tempo Plays and One Word Calls in Your Offense.
